Letter of the Week: Y
Handwriting Practice: Y
Sing for Y {Letter-Sound Association}
This idea was taken from the Education Center's Circle Time from A to Z. {We all sang a little song and inserted each word into our song as we went along. We practiced the /y/ sound repeatedly and talked about several words that start with the letter y.}
Y is for Yawn {Letter Recognition}
This idea was taken from the Education Center's Circle Time from A to Z. {Ms. Carlie showed cards labeled with letters - if the letter was a Y, all of the students "yawned" while saying,"Y is for Yawn." If the letter was not a Y, we stated the letter and waited for the next card.}
This is the best picture I could get of my girl yawning. She started getting silly once I pulled the camera out. |
Is it a Y? {Letter Identification}
This idea was taken from the Education Center's Circle Time from A to Z. {This one is very similar to the previous game - the teacher shows the students cards with letters on each one. If the letter is a Y, students say, "Yes" and form a Y with their bodies. If the letter is not a Y, our answer is, "No!"}

Intro to the Five Senses {smell, sight, sound, taste & touch}
We have a field trip on Tuesday and we will be focusing on noticing which of the 5 senses we are using while at the farm. I will bring a popcorn snack for the kids since taste will hopefully be one they won't experience on their own. :)

Nursery Rhyme: Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary
We actually ran out of time this week and didn't get to our Nursery Rhyme. We will save this for another day when we have extra time!
